The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport have embarked on project of rehabilitating and maintaining provincial roads in order to allow the KwaZulu-Natal Road Network to fulfil its core function of access and mobility to various parts of the province.
Nankhoo Consulting Engineers have been appointed as the Civil Engineering Consultants to undertake the Assessment, Design and Construction supervision for the Upgrading of Main Road P549 (Km 20.00 – km25.00).
P549 (Km 20.0 – Km 25.0): Before construction
A total of 5.0 km commencing at the km 20.0 to km 25.0 has been upgraded to blacktop. The project comprises bulk earthworks, construction of relevant drainage, layerworks and surfacing, guardrails and sidewalks. The road length that has been constructed is 5.0kms with a 7m wide paved surface commencing at km 20.0 to km 25.0.

This road serves a large community with many dwellings situated alongside the road. Numerous services such as electricity, water and telephone run along the road with overhead cables across the road. Several schools, clinics and police station are also located along this route who will now benefit from the road.
